On March 31 2021, UNFPA Tunisia achieved targeted goals related to strengthening social protection and economic relief systems for vulnerable and marginalized segments of the population as a response to COVID-19. Indeed, several actions in response and recovery from COVID-19 consequences were supported by UNFPA Tunisia from June 1st 2020 to March 31, 2021. Hence, UNFPA and its implementing partners were able to provide social support to vulnerable women and women victims of gender-based violence, as well as members of the LGBTG community and people with disabilities in Tunisia. UNFPA Tunisia succeeded in reaching 1043 persons who received social aid consisting mainly of treatments, cash-based aid, food, medicine, transportation, rent reimbursement, utilities bills, medical fees, medical equipment, hygiene kits and dignity kits. 328 747 people with disabilities were also reached by an accessible sensitization tools: Indeed, UNFPA Tunisia supported the strengthening of the access to information on COVID-19 and SRH and GBV to persons with disabilities by translating into sign language information and communication tools and messages on social networks and on media to allow increased access to treatments and liaison with care services. Besides, a shelter of women victims of violence in Tunis was renovated, equipped and reopened to provide listening, orientation and hosting services to around 240 women victims of violence as well as capacity building sessions.

Psychological support was also provided to the LGBTQ community and vulnerable youth and adolescents. And finally, the impact of COVID19 on young people in remote areas was assessed in order to inform national strategies on adequate interventions targeting this group.
